Tofu Burji

Tofu bhurji recipe is Indian style scrambled tofu that you can make for a quick brunch or as a side dish.

Ingredients

  • 200 gms of regular tofu
  • 1 large tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green chilli, finely chopped (you can add one more if you like more spicy)
  • 1/2 inch Ginger, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch turmeric powder
  • 1 pinch red chillii powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garam Masala Powder (optional)
  • 1.5 tablespoon oil
  • Coriander Leaves, chopped
  • Salt as required

Instructions

  1. Wash tofu in a warm water
  2. Scramble the tofu and keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan.
  4. First add the cumin and brown them.
  5. Now add the onions and fry till they soften.
  6. Add the ginger and green chilies and fry for some seconds.
  7. Add the tomatoes and fry till the tomatoes become soft.
  8. Sprinkle the turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala and stir.
  9. Add the scrambled tofu and stir well.
  10. Saute for 3-4 minutes. Season with salt.
  11. Lastly add coriander leaves and stir them.
  12. Serve tofu bhurji hot with some bread or rotis or as a side dish with dal-rice or veg curry-rice combo.
